40 Days Meat Free Challenge – First 7 Days

For anyone who doesn’t follow my social media, I have decided to give up meat for Lent. I wouldn’t call myself a huge meat lover, but most of my midweek meals always include chicken and I rarely think of ordering a vegetarian (or fish) meal when I go out to a restaurant.

GBBO Challenge Week Ten – Ginger Biscuits

Ah, the finale! What a series it has been. As much as I have loved this season, the finale didn’t have as many exciting bakes as it usually does, especially not to the creative bakes they’ve been tested on in previous weeks.

I decided to make the ginger biscuits which was the last technical bake of the season and they are delicious! The aroma fills the entire house with christmas spices and they are perfect for gifting this Christmas!

GBBO Challenge Week Eight – Forgotten Bakes – SAVOY!

What the **** is a savoy cake? Anyone else feel the same way? I hope so, because this week I was left completely flabbergasted at some of the things being made, which is why I think they named it forgotten bakes…

This weeks recipe is taken from Kate’s Pecan Savoy Cake, which was actually enormous on the show, but the recipe cuts it down to one simple sponge. However, I didn’t bother with the chocolate decoration, I stuck to a simple coating of icing sugar and fresh berries (and then ate it with a pool of custard!!)

GBBO Challenge Week Three – Sticky Toffee Apple Caramel Cake

Caramel Week! A first for the GBBO and pretty new to me too. I rarely attempt to make caramel, too many disasters and too many burns when I do! But watching the episode made me feel inspired to give it another go. This cake is absolutely scrumptious! It is a perfect Autumn treat and would even go great at a Halloween party!
